Back to The Elijah Challenge in Indonesia

Our Early Years – 1978 to 1987

After having known the Lord for two years, I took Lucille to Indonesia to serve with me as missionaries from 1978 to 1987 (with occasional furloughs back home in the USA). We went completely by faith—without any sending mission agency, without financial support from churches, and without any invitation from an Indonesian church or organization. The Lord was extremely gracious to open doors for us, and our time in Indonesia turned out to be very fruitful. Below are three photojournals which recount each of the three stages of our early days in West Borneo. Just click on the titles for a look.

Dancing on the Edge of the Earth: 1980-1987 in Batu Ampar

The Sequel – April 2013

In April 2013 we returned to Indonesia in part to visit and minister with the disciples we had made during our nine years there some thirty years earlier. Below are webpages testifying what they are doing for the kingdom of God now. This list is not exhaustive since we count about a dozen disciples who have served the Lord full-time or are now serving full-time as pastors and pastors’ wives.
