APOSTOLIC FUNCTION of The Elijah Challenge

"One key to transformation is for God’s order to occur in each state. When strategic intercessors are aligned with apostolic leaders, breakthrough begins. Intercessors carry the burden of God, prophetic people make key declarations and apostles set the decrees in motion. In other words, intercessors keep the heavens open, prophets begin to express God’s heart, making key declarations into the atmosphere, and apostolic leaders pull upon that revelation or blueprint of heaven and bring it into an established form in the earth realm."

"This morning the Lord impressed me that The Elijah Challenge ministry was to function as an apostolic ministry. The Scripture to confirm this:

"Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. And I said, "What are these coming to do?’ So He said, "these are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one could lift up his head; but the craftsmen are coming to terrify them, to cast out the horns [authority] of the nations that lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.’" Zechariah 1:20-21

I believe that the craftsmen are apostles. The Lord had shown this to me another time. Craftsmen (and apostles) are builders by definition and that is in keeping with the original Hebrew word. Apostolic authority terrifies the demonic authorities that oppress the people of the nations. I believe this is in keeping with the Scripture regarding "greater works". Eddie Smith once said that he believed that the "greater works" were bringing down territorial principalities, something Jesus Christ did not do in His earthly ministry, He left it for us! (Though it is through His death and resurrection that we have any power at all!)

Therefore, I believe God will use this ministry to send out saints walking in apostolic authority to terrify and cast out the demonic authorities that are oppressing the nations."

"Dear Elijah Challenge,

One of my dearest friends, Brother Murumba Ohanete, has told me of your part in the Benin (West Africa) School of Ministry and of the crusade you led. He also gave me your website address, which I enjoyed looking over. I served as pastor of a church in Houston (Cole Creek Baptist - which no longer exists) before going to Ivory Coast with my family as missionary of the IMB (then FMB). We served there for 34 years....

It was while serving in Ivory Coast that I became aware of the importance of healing. As I studied your website, I was very favorably impressed with your approach to the healing ministry. Especially your emphasis that you don't have to be a full-fledged charismatic, speaking in tongues, slaying people in the spirit, etc. for the Lord to use you in healing evangelism. I think this is what has turned many of our Baptists against the idea of a ministry of miraculous healing, and we have thereby missed many potential opportunities. That and the fact that we have been prejudiced against the healing ministry by a lot of supposed "faith healers" who have emphasized healing over salvation, and sometimes counterfeited some healings, making people believe they were healed and testify to it when they were not really healed at all.

Well, I hope God continues to use you and others who are like minded to convince us Baptists that we are overlooking a powerful spiritual weapon for combating the enemy. We are like soldiers going into battle with spears and bows and arrows, when we have cases of new, modern, rifles back at the camp unopened because we are suspicious of them or don't know how to use them. May our Father continue to bless your ministry."

"We believe the Lord's purpose for The Elijah Challenge is to help set in motion the fulfillment of Christ's final decree to His Church during these last days:

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

The Lord is using this ministry to bring about the restoration of His miraculous healing power to His Church for use in proclaiming His Kingdom to the nations. The miracles done in His name prove to the lost that He alone is the only True God; they help to impart to them saving faith in Christ. As power is being restored to the Church, unity is also being restored to Christ's body on earth.

We desire to work alongside intercessors and prophets in order that His Kingdom come, His will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

The Elijah Challenge has been called to train an army of nameless and faceless witnesses. We are called to help in the formation of the Church that is all that God created it to be, a Church that is like Christ and does the works that He did. We teach the Church how to obey His command to "heal the sick....tell them that the kingdom of God is near you."
