Early in September 2016 at a major Congress on Evangelism held in the Northeastern Brazilian city of Juazeiro do Norte, we were given a brief opportunity to introduce The Elijah Challenge to the approximately 1,000 servants of God who had gathered. After the evening programs were over, at the front of the hall we happened to meet the pastor of a large Baptist church in Sao Paulo whom we knew from past ministry visits to his church.

Early in the year he had spent four months in the USA studying English at Dallas Baptist University. Unfortunately during his stay he had to be admitted to a local hospital a total of four times due to a condition resulting in the narrowing of the hole within the vertebra surrounding the spinal cord in his neck. The narrowing put dangerous pressure on his spinal cord—resulting in the threat of paralysis below his neck. Therefore the pastor had to be very careful with the movements of his head.

We laid hands on the back of his neck and exercised authority over the condition in the name of Jesus Christ. During this time the pastor felt a definite physical sensation within that very area of his neck. The Lord was at work supernaturally.

Two days later we bumped into him at the lobby of his hotel. He shared with us that there was no more pain in his neck and was able to turn his head freely. Whereas earlier he felt a heaviness on his shoulders, he felt light. All symptoms of the condition that threatened to paralyze him were no more.

Luke 9:1 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
