Testimonies of people with heart disease

On Saturday evening, January 17, 2015 we taught at a Chapter of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International in Houston, Texas. The title of the teaching was “Why doesn’t John 14:12 work in practice for us?”

John 14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Charismatic believers generally hold that according to this scripture, believers should be able to do works like healing the sick and casting out demons as Jesus did as evidence to the lost that He was in fact the Son of God and the only way to the Father. However, this has not worked out in practice. Rarely are the sick healed miraculously when believers attempt to minister to them. Through the teaching we bought, we provided an solution to this dilemma.

Why doesn’t John 14:12 work in practice for us?

After presenting this teaching, we did a demonstration by applying the principles we saw in the ministry of Jesus when he ministered to the sick in the gospels. A brother named George had come to the meeting with a heart condition. His breathing was not quite normal, and he would usually feel pain in the mornings. On account of this condition, he was not to exert his heart by lifting heavy objects. George’s adult daughter Ingrid who had accompanied him to the meeting also needed healing for a back injury she had suffered in a fall down the stairs some years ago

George and Ingrid came forward to receive healing prayer. We asked two brothers, both with a military background, to lay hands on him and exercise the power and authority that Jesus has entrusted to His disciples for proclaiming the kingdom of God to the lost.

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. (Luke 9:1-2)

After the prayer, we asked George to pick up and lift his daughter Ingrid—a tall woman who already had children of her own—off the floor and hold her up for ten seconds. This was something that he was not to attempt due to his heart condition. But George wrapped his arms around Ingrid and lifted her up off the floor. We began to count off the seconds: “one thousand, two thousand, three thousand, four thousand…ten thousand.” Then George set Ingrid back down on the floor.

We asked him how he felt. “Fine,” he replied with a grin. There was no discomfort in his heart. His breathing was also normal. Later he came to me and gratefully told me that his breathing and heart were doing unusually well.

Immediately after Ingrid was set back down onto her feet by her father, she broke out into a smile and exclaimed that her back was feeling much better! The sisters then prayed over her in Jesus’ name, and afterwards she testified as she tested her back that the constant pain she had there for years had completely vanished.

George wrote us the following Monday: “That Saturday evening I felt like a 15-year-old and also the following day too. But today on Monday I felt some pressure.” We then instructed him to lay hands on his heart and to exercise authority over the pressure in Jesus’ name. The pressure left and he felt fine.
