In the summer of 1978 we flew into Jakarta, Indonesia totally by faith in obedience of the Lord’s command to make disciples of all nations
.

Jakarta has the largest mosque in Southeast Asia

1

Indonesia consists of an archipelago stretching from Australia in the south to the Philippines & the Southeast Asian peninsula in the north.

The Lord sends us to the huge jungle island of Borneo which Indonesia shares with Malaysia and Brunei.

1

The Lord opens a door and sends us into the interior to the town of Sanggau.

In Sanggau we are given the charge of pastoring an existing church.

There we learn how to seek the Lord and to teach the Scriptures to His people. At that time I had been following Jesus Christ for only about two years.

The Lord raised up a godly couple from the church, Mr. & Mrs. Liang, to stand by our side.

I take opportunities to go into the jungles to minister the gospel.

 Our congregation in Sanggau

During the five months we spent ministering here, the Lord taught us how to seek him early each morning under very challenging physical conditions. He taught us the Scriptures, which we in turn taught to the congregation each week. Through His word He taught us how to heal the sick and cast out demons, and as a result we witnessed various miraculous healings strengthening the faith of the people. The miracles also proved that our God is the only true God, and that Jesus is the only way to Him.

After the five months in Sanggau, we asked the Lord to give us a greater challenge: could He use us to plant a church in an unreached area?

We were told of two unreached villages a few hours upstream from Sanggau on the mighty Kapuas River.

Would we take the challenge? Please go to:
