A lifeless “cultural christianity” now in the formerly Christian West has brought about the fulfillment of the words of the apostles Peter and Paul, as well as of the prophecy uttered by Jesus Himself in Matthew 10:22 “You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”
1 Peter 2:20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. 22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
This is now being fulfilled in western nations having a culture based on Judeo-Christian values. Centuries ago the gospel of Jesus Christ was planted throughout these nations resulting in a wonderful harvest of believers in Christ. Over time these Judeo-Christian values—inevitably—came to be embedded in the culture of the West. In terms of life on earth, this would be beneficial for those living in the West.
In such a way, however, crucial elements of the gospel—repentance from sin, living in holiness, obeying Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and personal responsibility for one’s behavior and actions—would inevitably and sadly fade away. A powerless “cultural christianity” would be the result.
The love and compassion for one’s neighbor that Scripture teaches for believers is now being replaced by a tolerance toward and even wholehearted welcome toward all kinds of deviant behaviors and practices which are abominable in the sight of God. As examples, homosexuality, gay marriage, and abortion on demand—not to mention fornication and adultery—are now moving in the direction of being fully embraced by Western culture as well as by its legal system.
Most relevantly, such practices are not allowed (if not considered abhorrent) in cultures where Islam, Hinduism, or Buddhism is embedded.
In addition, in 2019 socialism—a direct descendant of Marxism—is taking root in America. Is the Entitlement Mentality a By-Product of Western “Christianity”?
In the “Christian” West, Peter’s words are now being fulfilled.

Along with the final gleaning of the harvest at home, shouldn’t the Church now take the gospel of life to those peoples imprisoned by Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and idol-worship—peoples who in a relative sense are “righteous” in comparison with the apostate West—who have never had a chance to hear the saving name of Jesus Christ?
Has not the West had her chance over the past few centuries?
What Paul described in Romans is also being fulfilled in the West
Romans 1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
