“Today in India we are celebrating our independence won 73 years ago from Great Britain—a very important day for our nation. But hundreds of millions of people live under the bondage of darkness and are still unreached with gospel of light. Multitudes here are bound by idolatrous traditions and blind ritual belief. It is astonishing that even in this era of high technology in India, village people still sacrifice goats and chickens—and at times even children—to satisfy their goddesses in return for favor for rain, for crops, etc. We have come across many instances of such things in the villages, even among educated people.

Please pray for us so that we may able to train and send more disciples to such villages to reach as many as possible. Approximately 70% of India’s 1,340,000,000 population still lives in villages.

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to reach them with the life-giving gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Some selected reports

“For a long time in a village known as Gajmara, Reenam Naik had suffered from arthritis. She was very devoted to her goddess, but after performing much worship for the goddess, Reenam was still not well. When our workers went to Gajmara, they ministered to her. She was miraculously healed in Jesus’ name and accepted him as Lord and Savior. She gave up all her rituals and traditions, and followed our Lord Jesus Christ.

For a long time an orthodox Hindu woman (who was very faithful to carry out Hindu traditions and rituals) had suffered from a problem in her uterus. For two months she took medicine prescribed by her doctor, but the wound in her uterus did not dry up. Finally her doctor advised her to go to the main hospital in the state capital to undergo an operation. Her family was arranging money for the operation, but it happened that our Elijah Challenge workers were ministering to the sick in that very village. They stopped by the woman’s home and were told about her problem. Our workers began to minister to her in Jesus’ name. Day by day over three days as they ministered to her, she started feeling better and better. Our gracious Lord healed her. There was no more need for an operation. The family accepted Christ.”

Extraordinary reports from our harvest workers in India

The Elijah Challenge equips harvest workers to reach resistant people groups effectively and fruitfully by training them to heal the sick miraculously as Jesus did (John 14:11-12)—as irrefutable and compelling evidence that Jesus is the Messiah and the only way to the One True God who created the heavens and the earth.

Babula Munda had a problem with his spine. He couldn’t go into town for medical treatment since he didn’t have the money. Instead he took some medicine given by the village sorcerer. But his condition worsened, and finally Babula was bedridden. The family knew of our Elijah Challenge workers, but didn’t call them fearing that there would be opposition in the village. But when his condition became very serious, the family felt they had to call them whatever the case. After our workers came and ministered to him, he got up from the bed and started walking around. He believed on Jesus and accepted Him as Lord and Savior.

Jasobant had swelling in both of his legs. Day by day it was getting worse. When after taking a lot of medication his condition didn’t change, he become extremely anxious. Both he and his wife didn’t know what to do. Meanwhile our Elijah Challenge workers had come to preach the gospel in their village. They ministered to Jasobant in the name of Jesus Christ. Within a week all the swelling receded. Both he and his wife accepted Christ.

In the village of Patilipanga, a man had been sick for 15 days suffering from typhoid. He was a manual laborer and had been unable to work for those 15 days. While our workers were preaching the gospel in his village, he went to meet with them. With much sadness he explained to them that he and his family were very poor and just managed to get by with what he made as a daily laborer. They had nothing left over to go to a hospital. Our Elijah Challenge workers ministered to him, and he was miraculously healed.

For about two months in the village of Papikhal, a man had suffered from swelling and pain in his stomach. He had taken a lot of medicine but with no improvement. He was brought to our Elijah Challenge workers’ house church meeting, where he was excited to hear the testimonies of other people who had been miraculously healed by the Lord. After he attended our house church twice, the swelling and pain in his stomach vanished completely. He accepted Christ and now continues to join our fellowship.

Glory to God!”
