“And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.” Jesus’ warning and prophecy from Matthew 12 is now being fulfilled in the West.
Matthew 12:43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”
Jesus gave this warning not so much to a particular individual, but rather to a generation. Sadly, what the Lord warned has come to pass in the “Christian” West, including the United States. The foundation of the West is based on Judeo-Christian principles taken from the Bible. One of the key principles is that—with regard to his people—God does not favor one race, nationality, social class, or gender over another.
Galatians 3:27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
This principle refers specifically to those belong to Christ, who acknowledge him as their Lord and Savior—and who therefore live according to his holy commands. We are all the same in the sight of our Father in heaven regardless of race or gender.
Inevitably, however, over time the gospel eventually becomes embedded the culture in which it was first planted. With that, the necessity of repentance from sin, being born again and subsequently submitting to the Lordship of Jesus Christ—all disappear. Most westerners today are not born again, but born into a Christian culture—which has a form of godliness but has no power at all to save.
2 Timothy 3:1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
Clearly this prophecy has been fulfilled in the West. In the name of “Christian” tolerance, love and compassion for everyone we now embrace various practices abominable to God: abortion including infanticide following delivery, homosexuality & gay marriage, legalization of marijuana, and LGBTQ lifestyles, to mention just a few. A sizable minority of Americans is now being drawn to socialism in which it not necessary to work in order to eat—contrary to the biblical principle in 2 Thessalonians 3:10. Recently (July 2019) Franklin Graham warned of a “nightmare” for America.
This is a result of the secularization of the gospel—the inevitable accompaniment of cultural christianity—in which the atoning sacrifice for sin and the Lordship of Jesus Christ is totally absent. What is left behind is merely a form of godliness but totally devoid of power to save and transform sinful humanity. In fact, it has the very opposite effect: “And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”
This appears to have been fulfilled among Jews today—those who are not chosen as the remnant of the Last Days. And it is now clearly being fulfilled today in the post-Christian West as well.
In America we are guaranteed the “right to pursue happiness,” even when our “happiness” runs completely counter to and violates God’s laws.
