What was the primary purpose for God blessing America with unprecedented prosperity giving birth to the term “American exceptionalism”? Let us attempt to answer this question from a biblical, heavenly perspective.

Genesis 22:15 The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time 16 and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18 and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”

We know that God blesses his people not simply for them and their loved ones to enjoy their earthly journey, but for the greater purpose of being a blessing: “blessed to be a blessing.” But in America it is natural for believers to concentrate on receiving God’s various blessings for themselves and their loved ones here in this life—and thus relegate being a blessing to all nations through Jesus Christ to little more than an afterthought. In most churches only one or two Sundays out of fifty-two Sundays each year are reserved for “Mission Sunday.”

But could it be that the Lord blessed America with such unprecedented prosperity so that we could have a major role in fulfilling the Great Commission before the Second Coming of our Messiah Jesus Christ during these last days?

We see that recent events unfolding in our nation are pointing to the gradual decline of our great nation—morally, spiritually, economically and militarily. The freedom Christians in America have enjoyed for the past two centuries to serve and obey our Lord Jesus Christ is now endangered. It is debatable whether or not this trend can be reversed or stopped. Whatever the case, should we the Church in America not read the writing on the wall and use whatever time and resources still at our disposal to be a blessing to all nations before the opportunity is gone forever?

Billy Graham’s Warning to American Churches: ‘Prepare for Persecution’

During these last days while it is still day and while we still have the freedom and the resources we should step on the gas pedal to accelerate the discipling of all nations to close this age and make way for the return of Jesus Christ.
