Healing at Central Luzon State University

It was Monday and a rest day for us. After a hectic week, Grace, my father-in-law and I were taking a break. We were also looking forward to visiting a cyber café to catch up with our emailing. A call from Pastor Joy, the Senior Pastor of Muñoz Christian Church, changed our plan. According to him, some staffs from Central Luzon State University had requested that we pray for their sickness. As we were staying in the guest hostel of CLSU, it would be quite convenient for the staffs to take some time off to seek healing.

At three in the afternoon, eleven members of the university staff met us at the cafeteria near to our hostel. It was a lady professor, who had been healed in a recent healing rally, who brought this group. Because of some urgent works, this professor could not stay. On the way out, she told me that she was feeling pain in her head. I reached out, laid my hand on her head, rebuked the pain to go in the name of Jesus. Immediately, the pain left and she was healed. Smiling with joy, she rushed off to finish her school's project.

Pastor Joy addressed the remaining staffs. He shared about the need to forgive others, repent of their sins and give their lives to Jesus. Most of these people were from Catholic background and so it was important that Pastor Joy shared Christ with them. He led them in salvation prayer of forgiveness. Everyone prayed to accept Christ as his or her Savior.

Then it was my turn to address the group. Fighting a running nose, I was wondering how I could heal these people. Making sure that nobody mistaken me for being a "miracle man", I made special emphasis that my wife, father-in-law and I were ordinary people like them. To prove that they could heal in the name of Jesus, I invited those who did not have tangible pain to come forth. My purpose was to give them a short training in healing. However, since three out of four were Catholic, I could only use one Born-again sister to help me in the healing demonstration.

I invited Grace to do the healing as most of the infirm people were ladies. With that one born-again lady, Grace took authority over the back pain of a young lady. We all followed her commands with confidence. After having seen so many miracles in the last two weeks, we would be surprised if the pain did not go. As expected, the pain in the back disappeared. Everybody clapped when this lady testified that she was completely healed. Once again, we could see the faith levels among the university staffs rising up.

The next to be healed was the manager of the cafeteria. She had pain on her right shoulder all the way down the arm to the wrist. As Grace held her upper arm, the other Born-again sister was holding onto the wrist. Together, everybody joined in to rebuke this pain. It was an easy mountain because in less than two rounds, the pain was gone. The woman began to cry because for the first time, she had seen the miracle of God. Her arthritic fingers were also giving her problem. After we took authority, the pain in the fingers was gone immediately. Even the clicking sound was gone. With gratitude, this lady kept on giving thanks to God for healing her.

A lady professor who had urinary infection felt the pain left her when Grace took authority and laid hand on her abdomen. However, after the first round of command, the professor still felt the itch in that area. The second command took care of that – the itch left completely. The lady with a sinus problem could breathe well after we took authority. A man with thyroid problem felt relief but we told him to see a doctor to verify the healing. A young lady had goitre and after commanding the swell subsided. Grace thought that she was putting her hand on the whole neck but when the swelling went down, she was surprised that she had laid hand on the goitre itself.

An eye-opening case was when a born-again lady professor walked out to get her arthritic fingers prayed for, she turned to a lady who was standing in the front and asked for her forgiveness. These two had a misunderstanding that day and so the professor wanted to get right with the offended party. As she was apologizing, she reached out and touched the lady's hand. At that instance, she shouted in surprise - the pain in her fingers was gone. This incident proved to us that for Christians to be healed, we need to forgive. However, this authority to heal should be appropriately used in evangelistic context. This is not the healing ministry mentioned in James 5.

Grace and I laid hands and took authority over a pair of sisters who had diabetes. We asked them not to stop their insulin injection but to go and see their medical practitioners for check-up and medical advice. All in all, we took authority over ten people with infirmities and God touched and healed them.

After we had returned to our hostel room and were about to rest when there was a knock on the door. Another group of six university staffs were seeking for healing. They were mostly Catholic except for two who came from Evangelical churches. The hostel manager lent us an empty hostel bedroom for the healing ministry. As the six sat on the beds, I explained the need to give glory only to Jesus. It was a very sensitive issue but I reiterated that only Jesus is the Mediator and no others. Not even Mary can help them. Would they accept Christ as their only Lord and Saviour? They all agreed and I led them all in a salvation prayer.

Grace and Pastor Joy's wife, Cora, then took up position to heal the sick. The Born-again Professor who was healed after she asked for forgiveness had joined us and she also helped out in healing the sick. The first person to receive healing was a lady lecturer who had pain in her eyes. She was healed instantly and then we went on to pray for her asthmatic lungs. After two rounds of taking authority, she smiled and said that she could breathe easily. We asked her to confirm the healing of her asthma with her doctor and inform Pastor Joy about the result. A lady with backache was healed. Another with migraine was healed.

The secretary to the Vice-President of the university was visibly touched by the Lord. She had cancer but she will go to her medical doctor to verify her healing. After the ministering, we gave thanks to God and with uplifted hands, we praised Him out loud. After instructing the Catholics who were healed to only go to Jesus and no other saints or "mother-of-God", we went to our room for a well-earned rest.
